Kitchen Follies
For reasons I won't go into here (my brother, Biggus Dickus, bought it) I have in my possession a bottle of Grey Goose vodka. This would be just fine by me, except the tea-totaling bro bought vanilla-flavored vodka, which is practically undrinkable. This, combined with the beginning of mango season, brought me to this morning's experiment. Can I make chicken salad out of chicken shit? Or, to be more exact, if I let most of a ripe Springfels mango steep in a mason jar of vanilla vodka for a while, will it be any more drinkable?
I'm thinking mango martinis. Mango martinis, or swill. It's got to be one or the other, and since I already have swill, what do I have to lose?
Here’s hoping the mango can overpower the vanilla… I bet it will. I’m imagining pretty god martinis
Good heavens…what an awful thing to have done to a bottle of Grey Goose…putting vanilla in it…ewwwww. But I have to say I think your instincts are good and the mango may save the day.
Well, I don’t know your tastes well enough to pick a suggestion for you, but here’s a whole page of nilla-vodka drink recipes:

Best o’ luck!
I’d get some Coco Lopez, too—maybe give all that a swirl in the blender with some crushed ice.
I kept this little binder—over all the years I tended bar—of drink recipes. When I hung up my church key, I gave it to Judi when she started tending bar, and not too long ago, she stumbled across it in a box. If you want, I can thumb through there and see what might be really good with vanilla vodka (which always sounds kinda icky to me; I’ve never tried it). Off the top of my head, I’m thinking an Oatmeal Cookie or a Dreamsicle. Maybe even an Orange Crush.
