Misty Mountain

Day two at Arrowmont. It snowed off and on all day yesterday. Big fat, feathery flakes that didn’t stick. Except for about half an hour. Yesterday I made balls and disks and beads and tablet shapes and a cube. Today we learn how to merge elements and incorporate found (or otherwise acquired) objects in our felt objects. Here’s my work station, and a shot of the snow.

Hey, did I miss you?

You missed the Crafts Loop, perhaps?

Gatlinburg’s redeeming virture (other than the mountains, which is where they should have focused themselves, leaving the tourista banality to Dolly in Pigeon Forge) is the Crafts Loop, a rural mountain community of artists, crafts people, old hippies, clock makers, alternative lifestyle outcasts, and other free thinkers. It’s not hard to find, if you get out of town and head towards Cosby.

Nice little mountain drive. Stay at the BuckHorn Inn B&B;for a quiet weekend and ride the shuttle if you don’t want to drive. There’s an interesting English pub out there somewhere, too.

Anyway, next time you’re up in these environs give me a call. You can try some of the local brews.

Love,

GEO
