Nature Notes

Remember my poinciana tree, that was a naked twig one day, and covered with little feathers the next?

This is it in high summer, a fractal canopy of green, casting a huge swath of shade over the driveway and the side yard.

As ever, this is part of the Nature Notes meme.

Wonderful fresh green! And love the play of light through the summer leaves!

You mentioned damselfies around your koi pond or lack of them. They probably get eaten as they are laying eggs or the eggs get eaten by the koi. They need the right kind of water depending on what kind of dragons or damsels they are….Michelle

Is this the same as a mimosa tree?

Your photo is so pretty, all that feathery foliage with the sun behind it. I’ll bet it’s a great place to sit in the shade.
